Systems Maintenance & Reconnecting to Your Flow
I’m a retired interior architect so I use energy healing protocols differently than most. I like to look at it from a systems perspective, as you may already be aware, because I write and say it a lot and is on the home page of this website! While in architecture, I became enamored with all the different overlapping systems that keep our buildings up to snuff, as they used to say, or moving and grooving as other people say sheepishly because it’s out of style to speak that way, but I purposely wrote it because our language matters when we say healing protocols. But sometimes to put a finer point on it becomes ‘talk-i-tecture,’ as we used to say in design school, or post-rationalization to fill in the blanks of the backstory. If you’re like me, the backstory because becomes a systems maintenance nightmare, bringing up all the gunk that you thought you got past a long time ago. You might think, “If you can just stop talking about it, I can push past the shame, fear and other ghosts and just get on with my story, thank you very much.” But that’s not how we heal… well, you don’t have to keep repeating the story like you might in talk therapy (though it is a good outlet for understanding your issues and behaviors).
In energy healing, we use our words to find our voice and the time to get there is now.
Systems maintenance for ourselves looks like understanding who we are as individuals and allowing ourselves to have different preferences and desires. It aligns with the third house in astrology because that is the stage of life where we learn to say, “No!” Toddlers are good at saying no and don’t care which is what because they like what they like, like the proverbial honey badger. Too much stress on one system can and will impact the other systems that connect to it and/or support it. If the electrical system isn’t grounded, it becomes a way for the lightning to strike us — and not in a good way. We feel like lighting rods that are impacted by the people around us and if we’re high enough, we may get canceled out in the culture through disbelief. But is it positive and negative with a grounding wire, or is it our way of understanding who we are as individuals? It’s up to you to decide because maybe it’s both, which it usually is.
Alleviating Stress in the body
In my book, Creativity for Soul Healing, I talk about stress and how it feels when we’re blocked. This is explained through two modes: focal points and the chakras. Chakras are wheels or whirls of energy located up and down our spines. Focal points are my inside joke and way of tying it back to design because that’s my milieu. But far from an accent wall, these focal points are connected to our inability to clean out the gunk. It requires focus on your systems and daily maintenance to analyze your state of being. There are three focal points to consider:
De-stress the Details: What are the little things that fray your nerves, keeping you slightly agitated?
Systems Check: Describe how you feel in your body.
Release for Change: Visualize those energies leaving your mind, heart, gut, body in whatever way works best for you. Note that our guts absorb a lot of our emotions, so isn’t it interesting that we say, “You’re annoying the shit out of me” or “You scared the shit out of me,” which is a sympathetic nervous system response that can actually happen if you don’t learn how to let go.
Before you shut down over these daily requirements, know that it doesn’t take long and only if you feel like you need to.
Source Cord Visualization
When we do a Source cord visualization, we recognize that we are connected to the Earth because, yes, that’s where we are in our bodies.
Visualize a black grounding cord from your root chakra at your tailbone extending down into the crust, or mantel, of the Earth — not the top soil, dig a little deeper. But you don’t have to go that deep to hit bedrock, as we know through science.
Once you are fully supported, like a building on solid ground, extend another white cord from the area between your diaphragm and naval, your Source core, or solar plexus, down into the center of the Earth where we know there is molten lava, also known as the Source Core of the Earth. This is where the polarization of the Earth happens and is why we have magnets! But like magnets, our Source core is connected to our heart centers. We can become de-polarized in our heart centers, which reflect the inner workings of the Earth. Yes, it’s true! And it’s how we talk about ourselves as well, our hearts are our cores and the truth of the matter comes from our hearts. But because it is molten, it is ever changing, making our hearts feel like fair-weathered friends sometimes.
Now that you are fully connected to the Earth, you can visualize all that extra gunk going down your white cord into the Earth where it automatically gets turned back to Source energy through the molten lava. Source energy is love, which binds us all together.
Listen to and/ or repeat the following mantras to help you clear out the gunk after you’ve removed the form of stress through recognition.
Knowing When to Say When
Sometimes our systems maintenance seems to not work as we look around us and feel pressure. This is likely the squeeze of change and can make us feel disoriented. I had this happen to me when I left my job that ended up being a career change. It felt like a tidal force pushing me out the door, quite literally as I was not allowed to become part of the management team after our company was sold, I was pushed out of my seat (again, literally) as a new seating arrangement put me next to the men’s bathroom, and then on my last day, the IT crew pushed me out of my desk so they could install a new system for the person taking my place. It was a force to be reckoned with and I saw all the signs and symbols in front of me, but it still stung. But being aware can help you get past the moment with integrity and grace… if you can keep your cool, which is part of the systems maintenance.
Chakras
The word chakra translates to ‘whirl’ and when you clear them, it feels that way, too, and lifts you up like a balloon when you’re done. You can feel it in your integumentary system, too, which is connected through the heart and crown chakras. Our integumentary systems are the most important system in our bodies because they connect us literally and energetically to each other. It is through this system that we know how love feels, looks and acts as we become endeared towards each other. We have to see it to know it; believe it to feel it, it’s all the same thing because when you turn out the light it’s still there, or when you know, you know.
We believe in our heart centers through our ability to make things work for ourselves. I call it my Tan France freedom, and yes, it’s named after the Queer Eye host, Tan France, who has just the best kind of demeanor toward the people he presses his fashion advice on. He’s calm, insightful, gracious, yet pushes them to move past whatever block is keeping them from enjoying their best selves in the clothes that fit them best. If you’re wondering, I do have other ideas from the other hosts, but he landed the first and the best for me because when I looked at him, I thought, “He looks like he belongs in my family tree!” And that was it, we were forever connected in my mind and heart center where our integumentary system extends out around us between six and fifteen feet. This is likely the reason why we needed to maintain a 6-foot diameter distance between ourselves during the pandemic, but I digress… Integumentary system healing begins in the heart center through joy and extends out into the collective as an energy that we want to share with others. It comes naturally when we’re feeling all light and all attractive.
Chakra healing is a one-two punch, or more apologetically, it’s a voice within us that says, ‘yes, you can do this.’ It fills up your joy balloon and makes you feel whole and requited to yourself because your energy is literally moving in flow. I have read about people who can see chakras through their intuitive sense and there are likely many, but the main seven that line up and down our spines are the focal point for our clearing session. Listen and/or repeat the mantras for clearing out your chakra and mycelial systems. The mycelial system will be covered in another healing session.
